Meet the Team
Pedro Santiago, DVM
Dr. Santiago was born and raised in Puerto Rico with an early love of animals and an interest in veterinary medicine. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez in 2004 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After that, he headed to Alabama to study at the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, receiving his DVM (Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine) in 2008. Following graduation, he relocated to Central Florida to begin his career and has been practicing locally ever since.
In the time since he settled in Central Florida, he has developed strong roots in the local community. He met his wife Luisa, a pediatrician, in Orlando, and they are the proud parents of two children. The Santiagos round out their family with miniature schnauzer “daughter,” Havana. Dr. Santiago enjoys spending his free time with his family, running, and is an avid sports fan. His favorite teams are Orlando City SC and the Atlanta Braves.
The Santiago family loves Central Florida and all its activities. They can often be found at the Winter Garden Farmer’s Market and splash pad or spending time enjoying the wonderful local restaurants. He and Luisa look forward to continuing to raise their family in this vibrant area, and are excited about contributing to the surrounding communities by helping pets and families get healthy and stay healthy.
Lauren Humphrey, DVM
Lauren Humphrey, DVM, is a veterinarian at Wintermere Pointe Animal Hospital, where she has worked since January 2026. Born and raised in southern New Hampshire, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Science, with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Science, from Clemson University. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2025.
Lauren has loved animals for as long as she can remember and knew early on that veterinary medicine was the right path for her. She developed an interest in exotic animals through a high school animal science program, where she worked with a variety of species and learned to groom dogs. She especially enjoys the puzzle-solving involved in medicine and hopes to work with marine animals at an aquarium one day. During veterinary school, she gained experience at the South Carolina Aquarium, Shedd Aquarium, Aquarium of the Pacific, and Safari West, working with marine animals and African species.
Outside the hospital, Lauren enjoys life with her husband, Sean, whom she married in August 2025, and their three cats—Muffin, Dumpling, and Bagel—a ball python, and an axolotl. Bagel is pictured with her. She also tends to a patio full of plants, explores National Parks and other National Park Service sites with Sean, and hopes to visit every National Park in the United States. In her free time, she enjoys art, scrapbooking, puzzles, and word games.
Erica, Office Manager
Erica joined Wintermere Pointe Animal Hospital in January 2021 and now serves as Office Manager. A fifth-generation Floridian, Erica grew up in Lake Mary and currently lives in Longwood. Her love for animals, especially horses, began at a young age and led her to study equine care and earn her certification in Equine Science and Technology. She transitioned into small animal veterinary medicine in 2016 and has enjoyed growing her career ever since.
Erica started at Wintermere Pointe as a receptionist before moving into management, where she thrives on supporting her team, helping clients, solving problems, and keeping the hospital running smoothly. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her 19-year-old son and her two cats, Napkin and Emma Boo. She also loves reading, cooking, hiking, visiting Florida’s springs, and exploring the outdoors.
Nika, Receptionist
Nika joined Wintermere Pointe Animal Hospital in August of 2024. Born and raised in Winter Garden, Florida, she is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in Business Management and is just one semester away from graduating. Nika began working in the veterinary field because of her love for animals and her desire to help care for the pets in her community. She finds her work especially fulfilling because she gets to help families and their beloved pets each day.
Outside of work, Nika adores her mini poodle, Toby, and gets especially excited whenever a client comes in with a mini poodle who reminds her of him. She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, shopping, visiting farmers markets, and trying new restaurants. Having lived in Winter Garden her entire life, Nika also loves exploring and enjoying all that her hometown has to offer.
