Pet Microchipping

A Small Chip. A Greater Chance of Reunion.

At Wintermere Pointe Animal Hospital, we understand that pets are family. If your pet ever becomes lost, a microchip can provide an important way to help bring them home.

We offer HomeAgain microchipping to provide pets with a permanent form of identification that can help reunite them with their families.

What is a Microchip?

A microchip is a tiny electronic device, approximately the size of a grain of rice, that is placed just beneath your pet’s skin.

Each microchip contains a unique identification number that can be detected using a compatible microchip scanner. When a lost pet is brought to a veterinary hospital or animal shelter, the microchip can be scanned to help identify the pet and locate their owner’s contact information through the appropriate registration service.

Why Microchip your pet?

  • Permanent identification: Unlike collars and tags, a microchip cannot easily fall off or become lost.
  • A better chance of reunion: A registered microchip can help shelters and veterinary professionals contact you if your missing pet is found.
  • Quick placement: Microchipping is a simple procedure that can typically be performed during a routine veterinary visit.
  • Peace of mind: An added layer of identification helps protect your pet if they become separated from you.

Registering Your Pet’s Microchip

When your pet receives a HomeAgain microchip at our hospital, the microchip is initially linked to your contact information that we have on file.

You will receive an email from HomeAgain with instructions to complete your pet’s registration.

Completing this registration allows you to manage and update your contact information if you move, change phone numbers, or need to make changes in the future.

Keeping your information current is essential to helping your pet find their way home if they ever become lost.

Please remember that microchips are not GPS trackers. They provide identification that can help someone contact you if your pet is found and scanned.
